Stories of Illness, Healing, and Faith!

Millions live with pain, fatigue, anxiety, or trauma that doesn’t show on the surface. Whether it’s chronic illness, PTSD, brain fog, depression, or suicidal thoughts—you deserve to be seen, heard, and helped.

Invisible Illnesses

Invisible Illnesses is a term that millions of people can relate to.  I define Invisible Illnesses as conditions that go unseen. You can appear perfectly healthy on the outside, yet no one sees your daily struggle.  On the contrary, your symptoms may be visible; however, your illness is invisible to the health care system as a condition that is marginalized or ignored.  No matter what makes you feel invisible, it is real, and you suffer daily.  This website is a place for the INVISIBLE to be made VISIBLE.

Healing

Healing is a complex process. For those living with chronic illness, the daily struggle is knowing that when you wake up each day, the condition that you live with will still be there. It never goes away.  Physical healing may never be complete, but mental and spiritual healing are possible.   Seeking therapy and embracing positive thoughts will improve your mental health, which can simultaneously benefit your physical symptoms.  Spiritual healing happens when you find peace in reading God’s word and take your troubles to a higher power through prayer.  While healing is unique to you, this website will provide information and resources to help you heal body, mind, and spirit.

Faith

Faith is believing in something you cannot see.  Just as we feel invisible, God is invisible as well!  The common ground we all share is that we live and overcome our invisible obstacles every day to function and keep going when things seem hopeless. My faith in God is the only way that I survived my invisible illnesses. I saw no path to healing and no way that I would continue living.  Even though everything appeared hopeless, God answered my prayers. When I was bedridden and alone, God was my comfort. I let God be my strength when I was so weak I could not lift my head.  I want to share my testimony of faith as encouragement for your most discouraging days.  Never lose faith in your times of despair.

Gratitude

Thank you to all those who prayed for me.  Also, thanks to my family, who carried me when I couldn’t walk, made food for me when I was bedridden, and took care of me when I couldn’t care for myself. Also, thank you to my Heavenly Father for healing my body, mind, and spirit.

The Invisible Illness Team

Please join the Invisible Illness Team.  The phrases “walk a mile in my shoes” and “you don’t understand” are sayings I have used repeatedly in frustration.  While I understand what it feels like to live with chronic Lyme Disease and POTS. I do not understand your invisible illnesses in the depth and detail that you do.  Please consider sharing your story with others.  Let’s make visible the stories of the invisible.  We can accomplish more together than we can alone.

Depression and Emotional Dysregulation

Depression is more than sadness—it’s a deep fog that can numb emotions, drain motivation, and make the world feel colorless. Some people seem “fine” on the outside while fighting waves of despair within. Emotional dysregulation, where feelings swing wildly or feel out of control, is also common in invisible illness and trauma. These are valid medical struggles, not signs of weakness or laziness.

PTSD and the Aftershocks of Trauma

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) isn’t limited to veterans. It can develop after any deeply distressing event—medical trauma, abuse, sudden loss, or even years of being misdiagnosed. People with PTSD may relive past pain through flashbacks, panic attacks, nightmares, or extreme hypervigilance. Their nervous systems are stuck in “survival mode,” even when the danger is gone. It’s not “all in their head”—it’s in their entire body.

Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, and Autoimmune Flares

These conditions are exhausting—literally. People living with fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, lupus, or other autoimmune disorders often look completely healthy but are battling pain, fatigue, and internal chaos every moment. Some days, even brushing their teeth feels like climbing a mountain. Their energy tanks run empty faster, and crashes can last for days. It’s invisible, but it is absolutely real.

Suicidal Ideation and the Desire to be free from Pain

When someone says they’re tired—not just physically, but soul-deep—it may be more than sadness. Suicidal thoughts often come when the pain (physical, emotional, or spiritual) feels endless and no relief seems in sight. It’s not about wanting to die—it’s about wanting peace, escape, or rest. Here, we hold space for those thoughts without judgment and gently remind you: you are worth staying. You are loved, and healing is possible.
